Matt McDaniel, President and Creative Director
Matt has studied and worked across the United States documenting local history, architecture, landscapes, and cultural sites for two decades. In his other career, he is one of the most experienced and accomplished regulatory historic preservation practitioners in the Southeast. Matt’s first book, Emigration to Liberia from the Chattahoochee Valley of Georgia and Alabama, 1853-1903, was published by NewSouth Books in 2013. Matt has collaborated with Director of Production Hal Pope on a variety of video productions beginning in 2011. He holds degrees in history and historic preservation from Hampden-Sydney College, the University of Georgia, and Louisiana State University, and studied at St. Anne’s College, Oxford University. Matt is also Senior Architectural Historian with CALYX Engineers + Consultants, a Raleigh, N.C.-based civil engineering firm.
Hal Pope, Vice-President and Director of Production
Filmmaker Hal Pope worked for 10 years as an advertising account executive before launching Pope Video Productions in 1992. Hal has received over 50 awards for video and audio production at local, state, and regional levels, including Copywriter of the Year from the Columbus Advertising Federation, and three Telly awards – a national award for production excellence. Hal’s previous clients have included the U.S. Army, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, the Georgia Forestry Commission, and many others. His films have been featured in a variety of museums, cultural sites, and installations, including NPS, USF&W, and the Columbus Museum. Hal graduated magna cum laude from the Grady School of Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
Dan Quigley, Cinematographer and Editor
Dan Quigley works as an independent filmmaker, teaches digital media and editing at a prestigious private school, and helps non-profit organizations tell their unique stories through digital film products. Born in New Jersey, Daniel graduated from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. Currently, he is collaborating with another production company to edit a project promoting Georgia tourism and completing a video for one of the world’s largest paper and packaging corporations.
Dan Odom, Animator
Since 2005, Dan Odom has provided creative production solutions through animation and special effects. He has a deep understanding of the principles of graphic design and utilizes only the latest technologies. Coupling his technical ability with an appreciation for production efficiency, Dan has routinely delivered high-quality, high-end motion graphics throughout his career, but without high-end price tags. Previously, Dan was art director for Peavey Electronics and has served as senior motion graphic designer for several nationally broadcast syndicated programs, including Hunting the Country, Inside the Obsession, and The List.
Jeanne Cyriaque, CV/L Project Principal
Jeanne Cyriaque researches, lectures, and facilitates initiatives and interpretive projects to raise awareness of the contributions of African Americans to Georgia’s cultural past. She is the former coordinator of African American programs for Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources. During her 15 year career in state government, she was the lead writer and editor of Reflections, an award-winning publication that features the preservation of African American cultural heritage in Georgia. Jeanne was an inaugural commissioner of the National Park Service’s Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor and contributed to the development of the management plan for the corridor that encompasses barrier islands and coastal areas in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Jeanne currently serves as vice chair of the Georgia Humanities Council and is a member of the board of advisors for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She received the Lillian C. Lynch Citation from the Georgia Museum of Art and the Mary Gregory Jewett Award from the Georgia Trust for her achievements in historic preservation.
